PXC35 Press Conference Max's Restaurant, Scout Tuazon St., Quezon City, Philippines February 14, 2013 The Press Conference for the stacked Pacific Xtreme Combat, PXC 35 card was held at Max's Restaurant in Scout Tuazon Rd., Quezon City, Philippines on February 14, 2013. It was well attended by the people from the Media, as PXC CEO & Promoter EJ Calvo talked about this up-coming event wherein PXC looks to kick things off for the year 2013 with a bang. It is the 35th event for the Guam-Philippines based MMA organization, and its 8th Philippines installment overall. In the organization's first event of the year, they've stacked this card with a balanced mix of rising stars from the Philippines, and brought in top MMA prospects and veteran fighters from Japan, Guam, Hawaii, and California, USA. The CEO & Promoter provided a "sneak peak" on what lies ahead in PXC, as he mentioned the return of top Featherweight prospect Mark Striegl inside the PXC Cage very soon, as well as title defence for flyweight title holder Ale "The Young Gun" Cali, and a title defence for PXC Bantamweight Champion Crisanto Pitpitunge, in the near future. He also pointed out that PXC relishes its role and is proud to be the promotion that (has helped) helps fighters from the Asia-Pacific region to be signed by the UFC.
Harris “The Hitman” Sarmiento will defend his Lightweight Championship Belt in PXC-35 on February 16th. (PRESS RELEASE) 02.05.13 --- The region's PREMIER MMA Company will produce a stacked fight card with PXC-35 in Manila. Fighters from the Philippines, Guam, California, Hawaii, Japan, Korea and Sweden will collide for a night of adrenaline and non-stop MMA action. The Hawaiians have arrived!!! Photo taken at PXC34 in Smart Araneta Coliseum. From L-R: UFC/MMA veteran Ronald "The Machine Gun" Jhun, UFC fighter Max Holloway, UFC fighter Dustin "The Diamond" Kimura, Russell Doane and Louis Smolka Battle-Tested Fil-American Harris Sarmiento faces a Filipino for the second straight match, this time with a lot more at stake as he puts his Lightweight title on the line against Isaiah Ordiz in PXC-35 on February 16th at The Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig. Sarmiento, born in Ilocos Norte and raised in the US, has helped propagate Mixed Martial Arts in the country by battling numerous fighters from across the globe, but his last fight ended in defeat as he bowed to Bagiuo's Mark Striegl in a non-title Featherweight bout last November in PXC-34. Now a title belt is at stake and the 29-year-old Sarmiento looks to bounce back as he marks his 60th professional MMA match by facing Ordiz who has won his two first pro-fights, the latter a split decision over Tristan Arenal in PXC-34. Sarmiento has won 35 and lost 24 matches, and is one of the most experienced fighters seen in Asia-Pacific with no sign of stopping anytime soon. “PXC-35 brings a great mix of international talent back to Manila. PXC's live broadcasts have helped make MMA one of the fastest growing sports in the Philippines after only 8 shows in 2 years. It has been a great opportunity for fighters to gain exposure, as well as an exciting show for local fans,” said PXC Chief Executive Officer, EJ Calvo. “When a fighter wins, he gets a shot at a bigger fight, and we love testing young fighters," added Calvo. Flyweight Louis Smolka from Hawaii, who has won his first two professional fights, takes on California's Alvin Cacdac, who has not fought since winning over Rex Wa-O in PXC-31 last June in Manila. Hawaiian MMA legend, Ronald "The Machine Gun" Jhun returns to action after more than two years off when he battles relative newcomer Zebaztian Kadestam of Sweden in a welterweight fight. “The Machine Gun” last fought in 2010, losing to A Sol Kwon in Heat-16 in Japan and his win-loss-draw record dropped to 24-24-2 but he sets for battle once more, facing a dangerous Swede who has won all three of his professional matches, including a strong win last November in PXC-34. Isaiah Ordiz (L) won his last fight against Tristan Arenal (R) at PXC34 Japan’s Chuji Kato gives fans a look at shooto style when he clashes with Korean Top Team’s Hong Seung Chan (2-0) in a Lightweight bout. Chan is also a recent winner in PXC-34. Ruel Catalan makes his PXC debut, and will try to make a name for himself when he squares off with Ernesto Montilla Jr. (0-1) in a Flyweight showdown of local bets. Steve Grandeza of Davao, who won the world kickboxing welterweight title in 2010, hopes to get back on track after a disappointing MMA debut as he fights newcomer Miguel Masquera. Grandeza, a deadly striker, lost via technical submission to Kyle Aguon of the US in his first MMA match in PXC-34. Other fights pit Bantamweight Dario Banario against Joseph Mercado, and Glenn Ranillo versus Mark Billena in a Lightweight bout. “PXC is the top MMA outfit in the Asia-Pacific and we are focused on growing fans and continuing to build on our strong reputation after 35 pro events,” Calvo said. (Press Release) Philippines | Published on: February 2, 2013 PXC makes MMA history once again in the Philippines! PXC is set to rock Manila AGAIN on February 16th, featuring a Lightweight Championship & some of the best rising stars of MMA from the Philippines, Guam, California, Hawaii, Japan, & Korea. For people who can’t get enough of action, there’s nothing better than watching a good old fashioned brawl. Come February 16, there is going to be plenty of that and more inside the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City as the Pacific X-treme Combat, Asia Pacific’s biggest and best mixed martial arts organization, once again rolls into the country with PXC-35. PXC has already established a name throughout Asia Pacific and its arrival in the Philippines last June 2011 cemented their reign as the premiere MMA organization by attracting the best fighters from the all over the world. With its most recent installment, PXC again makes its way to the Philippines to put a show in front of thousands of MMA fanatics. “We are very excited to kick off the year with great matchups at PXC-35 in the Philippines,” says PXC CEO, EJ Calvo. “The card features fighters from all over the world along with rising MMA talent from the Philippines,” Calvo adds. PXC-35 scheduled 9 action-packed fights to be headlined by a Lightweight title fight between Filipino talents Harris “The Hitman” Sarmiento (35-24) and Isaiah Ordiz (2-0). Coming off a disappointing loss to fellow Filipino-American Mark “Mugen” Striegl in PXC-34 last November, the veteran Sarmiento is set to bounce back and defend his belt against the young blood, Ordiz. This is surely a battle between a veteran and future star of the sport. In addition, the match between American Alvin Cacdac (11-9) and undefeated Hawaiian Louis “Da Last Samurai” Smolka also draws attention primarily because the winner will most likely be the next contender for the Flyweight title currently held by Filipino fighter Ale “The Young Gun” Cali. The PXC-35 fight card also includes Team Lakay’s Troy Bantiag (4-1) vs. Guam’s Tony Reyes (5-5), Japanese Chuji Kato (3-1) vs. Korean Top Team’s Hong Seung Chan (2-0), and Hawaiian Ronald Jhun (24-24) vs. Swede Zebastian Kadestam (3-0). Other homegrown Filipino talents featured on the night are Dario Banario (2-0) vs. Joseph Mercado (1-1), Ruel Catalan (1-2) vs. Ernesto Montilla Jr. (0-1), Adrian Hillana (1-0) vs. Steve Grandeza (0-1), and Glenn Ranillo (1-2) vs. Mark Billena. PXC-35 expects nothing but fireworks all night as fighters punch, kick and sprawl their way all for the glory of being crowned PXC victors. “We hope to see everyone at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City on the 16th of February and we promise you that it is going to be an exciting night of fights,” Calvo says.
